Why natural soap?

You can go to the supermarket and by soap cheap as chips, so why spend more on natural soap?  The answer should be because you love you skin.

I have pretty sensitive skin that appears to be getting more so as I get older – not that I’m old of course!!!!!  My skin, particularly on the arms and legs used to be really dry and in fact, down right scaly on my legs and no amount of moisturiser really fixed it for any more than an hour or two.

Then, I started making my own natural soap and voila!  no more dry skin!

Why?  Well the soap you buy has had all the natural glycerine taken out of it during manufacturing. This by – product of the saponification process (what happens when you make soap) is actually more valuable than the soap itself and is sold on to manufacturers of skin care products for use in their recipes.

Glycerin is a natural humectant – it attracts and holds moisture to the skin, so naturally, if you remove it, then you need to replace it with an added moisturiser (after washing).  Why bother, when you can use natural soap that RETAINS all of the produced glycerine within the bar!
